Everyday Adventure // Ute Valley Park

This past weekend, Cory & I went on a little afternoon hike.  I am so happy to finally be getting some sun!

Ute Valley is only minutes from our house, and has a few miles of winding trails.  It’s not as “I’m in the wilderness” as some of the other parks on the west side of Colorado Springs – you can pretty much see houses and hear roads the whole time – but it’s still a nice adventure.  And the trails are perfect for mountain biking, if that’s your thing!

We hiked the ridge line so we could get the best views in both directions, maybe that’s why we didn’t feel very “wilderness” – we actually stumbled upon a lot of wildlife for a park surrounded by city.  Thankfully, no snakes!  They do sometimes have rattler warnings in this park, but it must still be early in the season?  Reasons everyone in Colorado has dogs, #1407.

This easy access to the mountains & the abundance of parks & trails is something I’m going to miss greatly when we leave the Springs!  I will say that Colorado has grown on me a lot since I first moved here from the big city.  There are a lot of little things to appreciate if you look for them!

We’re headed out for our first camping of the season this weekend, and I am super excited.  And not just because I’m planning to make s’mores with nutella. But that’s probably part of it.
