Beautiful World // Texas Wildflowers

This is the third post I’ve done about wildflowers (minor obsession), check out the others here:  Arizona // Alpine

This past weekend, I adventured over to Texas for a weekend of apartment hunting with my sister, who just so happens to be brilliant and will be starting her PhD program at Texas A&M this summer.  We flew into Austin (one of my favorite places!) and made the short drive to College Station.

The wildflower gods must really love me, because I seem to always happen upon things in the perfect season.  The highway was lined with miles and miles of bluebonnet patches (and several groups doing the Texas thing and getting baby/senior/family/engagement photos taken with these bluebonnet backgrounds all along the highway).

In a few places, the bluebonnets were sharing real estate with pops of orange Indian paintbrushes, and I just about couldn’t get over how pretty everything was.  If I really want to stop thinking about moving to Texas, I need to start planning all my visits in August – because I think that’s really the only time of year that might convince me that it would be a bad life choice.

Husband just found today the tiniest of baby buds on the tree outside our window in Colorado – quite the stark contrast to the green upon green that is Texas right now.

I just can’t get enough of spring – but it is forever the temptress of seasons.  Today, the clouds hang low with misty white whispers of snow and my mind keeps wandering back to open highways lined with wildflowers.

Sigh.  Maybe someday, Texas.

    Lovely. I live in the panhandle and we have completely different wildflowers than Southern Texas. They are the apex when speaking of reasons to love Spring! Thanks for sharing.ReplyCancel
