Life Is Out There

It’s events like the one I attended last week – the Dive into Summer party at Madewell, hosted by my amazing friend Erin of artsocial – that remind me that life is out there, not in here.

Let’s be honest: I’m a television editor – so I sit in front of the computer all day.  Then I come home and blog (more computer) and run my business (more computer) and feed my social media addiction (more computer).  I do a lot of screen-staring in my life, and I’ll bet I’m not the only one.  Now, please note that this is not me complaining.  I love love love what I do, and this next season is full of more exciting opportunities than ever before.  But sometimes we can get caught up in screen time and forget that our lives don’t happen on a screen.  They happen at frozen yogurt shops and on walks and at birthday parties and on the balcony with a glass of wine.  And by golly, has my internet-life brought me some really awesome real-life friends.

As someone who is almost always thinking workworkwork – it’s super important to take breaks where you can focus on lifelifelife.  Not only because it’s good for your health/sanity/relationship – as if that weren’t reason enough – but because it’s actually good for your work too!

So, even if it’s a night of shopping with your friends (bonus points if there are awesome macarons and local homemade soda to involved), get out there – because that’s where life is!

Hi Annabelle! This post is what it’s all about! Getting out there, and enjoying those fun moments with friends and connecting with people is what we all crave and need! No matter how much a person loves what makes her busybusybusy, you are so right that it makes life even sweeter to make time for enjoying the walking around, snacking on yogurt and macaroon life with awesome friends, new and old! Good energy for us all!ReplyCancel

So true BP! Seems like I’m ever in search of the balance there, but usually end up swinging around like a pendulum. Summertime always motivates/reminds me to work less/play more sometimes 🙂ReplyCancel
